In the hour before the Mulberry show was due to start, the Twittersphere lit up with the news that Mulberry were launching a new bag - 'The Del Rey' named after everyone's new favourite singer Lana Del Rey. See the new bag here: http://blog.mulberry.com/2012/02/19/the-del-rey/ and Lana with the bag here: http://blog.mulberry.com/2012/02/19/lana-with-her-del-rey/. As the guests took their seats Miss Del Rey appeared, along with Michelle Williams, Pixie Geldof, Elizabeth Olsen, Olivia Palermo, Downton Abbey girls Michelle Dockery and Laura Carmichael, Bill Nighy and the fashion queen herself, Anna Wintour.
As the lights went down two of Mulberry's new 'monsters' were revealed, manning either side of the runway. What these are about I'm not really sure, but they're all over Mulberry's blog at the moment. They tied in with the theme of the show though - 'Where The Wild Things Are'. And true to a theme, I've never seen so much fur in one show before. The colour orange also ran throughout the show and infused with blues, which were presented in the form of Aztec prints. The show closed with black furs which looked sleek. This was quite a departure from the ice cream of summer, but a new direction is always interesting.
But at Mulberry, everyone's eyes are on the bags. The didn't disappoint.
