PEACHY

Happy Monday! I finally got my student loan which means nice things are coming my way in the form of Topshop deliveries. Notably Summer things to be worn in the sunshine. This is of course essential in the face of essay and revision stress.

My favourite cover this month is Vogue Spain's cover, maybe just because of the summer background. But so so pleased to see Freja back on the cover of Vogue Paris. Beyonce's Vogue UK cover was promising but I was a little disappointed with the editorial.

Which is your favourite cover?

UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Untitled

I've been obsessing over Altuzarra's SS13 collection ever since it hit the runway; I'm currently debating if thigh high gladiators would be a mistake or not. Maybe they just look better on the runway. But this jacket is certainly something that I could work with. I've paired it here with a bodycon Topshop dress (I actually own this dress and it's so versatile and flattering, I've nearly worn it to death), Zara sandals and a Victoria Beckham bag. This bag is from Style.com's FW13 accessory edit, get over there for some serious bag and shoe envy.

WHITEOUT

white
Gucci, Michael Kors, Celine, Alexander Wang

I can't lie, this is a trend that I'm having a dilemma with. White heels look good on Karlie Kloss but they tend to remind me of bad outfits in tacky nightclubs. As pretty as they look on the runway and as much as anything by Alexander Wang that glows in the dark is good with me, I can't help feeling that this is a trend that just shouldn't be allowed. Let's consider the reasons why;

- They look a little bit cheap
- They get dirty easily

Okay, so I got to two reasons. Because despite the fact that I don't want any of my friends to utter the phrase 'Why are you wearing white shoes', I tried a pair on in secret and I liked them. My addiction to white is fighting it out with my fear of Essex connotations and the fact that I will ruin them within ten minutes of wear. But if we just accept that we want to wear white shoes (apart from those Celine ones which should remain runway only, along with the toe shoes) then it makes sense for us to consider our best options.

Alexander Wang has pretty much got the white shoe scene sown up right now, but money-wise the best bet is these Zara beauties which are also pretty comfortable and a good height. I'm glad that Derek Lam has put white on these boots too, meaning we will carry our white shoes beyond Spring/Summer.

So even if you have the same gut reaction to me (white = eugh), it's okay to go on and admit it. You love those high straps too.

CANARY

I'm in love with this top but I feel it may be a bit too 'canary'. Thoughts? I'm still sticking with the skorts though, I don't care what anyone says.

All from Zara.

My set got featured on the Polyvore homepage! Exciting stuff eh? I'm glad to see that they agree with my love of Alexander Wang's summer footwear.

MWFBA has drawn to a close but here are a last few snaps of the Aussie Street Style. Props to the girl that wore a fur hat in that heat.

SIMPLICITY

Untitled

I'm a sucker for a simple but beautiful piece; a classic dress, a court shoe, a tailored blazer etc. Even better when several of these pieces collide (think The Row, Cèline, Stella McCartney). This dress came onto the Topshop website last week (along with a navy blue twin) and really caught my eye. The neckline and the cut hem are nice little details on a clean cut and season perfect dress. I also have been ogling Dannijo's new season jewellery and this necklace is my favourite of all, the colours are beautiful and against a white dress like this the colour really pops.

INSTAGRAM DIARY: MARCH INTO APRIL

5 24 6 25 2 21 18 2023 12 11 14 16 19 17 4 3

That's March in to April. Or Marching into April. However you want to take it.
I went to the most amazing restaurant on Friday night; Roast is set in the heart of Borough Market with a spectacular interior and gorgeous food. I had pork belly with mash, apple sauce and parsnips and it was honestly the best meal I have had in such a long time. Roast is a little on the pricey side but I could not recommend it enough, especially to anyone who likes a good old Roast Dinner! Also when the sun goes down you get a beautiful view of St Paul's Cathedral lit up across the Thames.

The other restaurant I went to was called Burger & Lobster. Like Roast, the game is in the name here. £20 gets you either a burger with chips or a lobster with chips, so we opted to split and try both. I'm a bit of a burger fiend and I was expecting something good from a place where a burger is one of only two dishes on the menu, and it didn't disappoint. I'd never eaten lobster before (I have a real dislike of fish) but I thought I'd try it anyway, and it was actually lovely. Burger & Lobster is definitely worth a visit. You won't really find better priced Lobster in London and the place has such a cosy and friendly atmosphere.

I headed back to uni yesterday and so am about to throw myself head first in to a pile of revision. That paired with the fact that everyone bar me seems to be at Coachella hasn't inspired my mood but I'm hoping it all pays off in the end and I'm determined to make the most of my last few months here!

SPLASH

Untitled

Believe it or not, the weather has actually started to pick up here. Don't get me wrong, it's still nowhere near Summer (I wish) but at least the Jet Stream has decided to shift its bum and let us warm up just a little. I am looking forward to my holidays more than ever, but for now my dress code is strictly 'casual' as I'm headed back to uni this Saturday. But despite all of the above my outlook on Summer dressing is staying as optimistic as ever.

The little kick of blue in the outfit above has made me determined to persevere with one of my style resolutions: colour. I'm far too prone to going for monochrome pieces, as my mother always reminds me; 'But they're so practical' I argue, 'Dress your age' Mother replies. You get the gist. I am adamant that I will never shelve my obsession with white because frankly there's nothing wrong with it, but I promise to go bold and choose coral, burnt orange, lime and cerulean (a colour we all only know because of Meryl). The detailing on this Chloè top is really lovely (as is everything from Chloè's new collection) and freshens up what could just be another white top.

MBFWA: THE CARRIAGEWORKS RUNWAY

831727-1_l 831729-1_l 831701-1_l image008 831695-1_l image007 image006 image003 831703-1_l 831709-1_l 831711-1_l

MBFWA activities are underway at Sydney's CarriageWorks venue, nicely setting the scene for some eye popping Instagram frivolities from our Aussie bloggers. There's something so friendly and relaxed about Australian fashion week; the competition of NY/London/Paris/Milan seems diminished here and all for the better. Maybe it's just the sunshine, but everyone looks like they're having a good time, and with the booming interest in Australian fashion it's not hard to blame them.

These are just a few street style snaps from the first day. Whilst I'm not keen on the backdrop (there's a bit too much street) I am loving the fashion. The Peter Pilotto dress worn by Jessica Stein of Tuula looks so fresh and interesting here and those Fendi shoes cannot get enough airtime as far as I'm concerned. Plus I have a new girl crush in the form of Natalie Cantell (top picture).

Keep up with all the goings on here at the official website
